*Important public hearing on Virginia’s first plan to reduce carbon pollution from power plants*

Virginia is stepping up to the plate to protect our communities and the planet by tackling climate change. Thanks to an Executive Directive issued last year, Virginia is set to become the first southern state to commit to reducing carbon pollution. But, it’s up to us to ensure the outcome is strong, equitable and scientifically sound.

This is a big deal. If designed correctly, Virginia’s plan will reduce carbon pollution from power plants and incentivize the development of renewable energy. RSVP using the ticket link above to let us know you can make it! You can also go to for more info.

Show up and let your Department of Environmental Quality know that you want climate action here in Virginia! The Department of Environmental Quality needs to hear public support from across the state to use its full authority to finalize the strongest possible safeguards to reduce carbon pollution from power plants, tackle climate change, and grow our clean energy economy.

*This public hearing will be held to receive comments on the proposed adoption of a cap and trade standard to limit carbon pollution from Virginia power plants. Carbon pollution from the power sector is one of the biggest contributors to climate change and we need to cut carbon now to protect our communities and future generations from the worst impacts of climate disruption.
