Curious about the BDSM/Fetish/Kink community in Tennessee? Want to know more about this largely underground population from a professional or personal basis? Feeling a need to become more familiar with the resiliency factors and subcultural challenges of kinksters you serve in your practice?
Mercury and Alex will provide a peek into the kinky closet to help describe and demystify a group of people who have been discussing consent for decades and have a real stake in sex positivity.
In addition, those who attend the presentation will be invited to tour The Mark — http://www.TheMarkByCPI.org — immediately following TNASH and/or Saturday 4/31
Mercury (he/him/his) happily serves Nashville as the Executive Director of CPI and Managing Director of The Mark, its non-profit, sex-positive community center; serves the extended alt sex community as a co-founder of Sex Positive Nashville, Nashville Sex Ed, and Many Loves (Nashville’s poly group); as a Director Emeritus for the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom; and as an invited national speaker, facilitating thinking conversations on BDSM, fetish, ethical non-monogamy, and the foundational concept of consent. Mercury has of late given into peer pressure and has begun pursuing an AASECT certification as a Sexuality Educator.
Alexandra Damiano (she/her/hers) is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and Board-Certified Music Therapist (MTBC) serving as the Gender and Sexual Minority Clinical Outreach Therapist at Nashville’s Sexual Assault Center. On a volunteer-basis, she also works with CPI/The Mark as Co-Chair of the Education Committee, Dungeon Monitor, and occasional consultant for special projects. Alex’s advocacy efforts include promoting client-centered program design, facilitating sex-positive thinking in the sexual assault prevention field, and increasing access to effective services for people of marginalized backgrounds.
